ANNIE O'MALLEY: Teenage Indie Artist Scores Impressive National Gig

Teenage Indie Artist Scores
Impressive National Gig

It's a real life dream come
true — story that should
encourage young, aspiring
music artists everywhere.

When Annie O'Malley walked onstage recently at the famed Riverbend Music Center, it marked a rather unlikely dream come true for the 17-year-old singer / songwriter / musician. Upon reaching out to, then auditioning for, management agents representing the rock band, Chicago, the Illinois-based high school senior found her career suddenly on a fast track. And her subsequent slot opening for the legendary, platinum-selling group at the aforementioned 20,000-seat Cincinnati amphitheater soon led to an ongoing touring opportunity.

Singing and dancing for as long as anyone can remember, O'Malley began writing her own songs at just age ten. Trained professionally in both singing and ukulele, the aspiring actress / model points to an eclectic list of influences — a musical menagerie of such varied artists as Bob Marley, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

O'Malley was received warmly at Melbourne, Florida's King Center for the Performing Arts while touring the "Sunshine State" with Chicago this past October. Exuding soft-spoken confidence, she delivered an engaging five-song set — singing to pre-recorded backing tracks on two of her tunes, while providing her own acoustic guitar and ukulele accompaniment on the others. A noteworthy highlight, her show-closing number, "Waiting," is a collaborative songwriting effort with DJ Lune — a track that has received an enormous number of plays on Soundcloud.

Looking to the future, O'Malley hopes that her current relationship with Chicago will lead to additional opportunities, as the yet-unsigned artist welcomes the chance to hit the studio and produce a proper major label record.
