"THEATRE FOR YOUTH" 
20th ANNIVERSARY SEASON

This month marks the 20th 
anniversary of the popular 
Theatre for Youth program 
at Melbourne, Florida's King 
CenterAnd the new season 
kicked off with a bona fide 
pop culture classic!

Thousands of enthusiastic "rock" fans packed the Maxwell C. King Center for two high-energy concert performances on October 20th and 21st. But it wasn't any modern-day YouTube sensation that attracted the throngs of elementary school-aged kids, their parents and teachers. It was the Stages Productions presentation of the timeless classic, School House Rock! C'mon everybody, sing along — Conjunction Junction what's your function?

Under the supervision of director Karen Wilson, the King Center's Theatre for Youth program has been educating and entertaining young people on Florida's Space Coast for the last 20 years. And the 2014-2015 season promises to be the biggest and best yet.

IMAGINOCEAN
Wedsday / November 12, 10:30am
$10 (inclusive of ticketing fees)
Pre-K – Grade 2

Tony-Award nominee John Tartaglia 
has created this magical undersea 
adventure for kids of all ages. Best 
friends Dorsel, Tank and Bubbles 
invite the audience to sing, dance and
make new friends as they discover a
treasure map and its adventures in 
this live black-light puppet show. 


LADY BUG
Thursday / November 13, 10:30am
$10 (inclusive of ticketing fees)
K – Grade 6

A perfect first ballet experience — 
performed by a cast of internationally 
recognized dancers. A favorite for 
children of all ages, the audience 
will uncover the true meaning of 
friendship in this beautifully crafted 
ballet featuring vibrant colorful
costumes, Lady Bug and her 
animal friends.


THE TAILOR OF 
GLOUCESTER
Monday / December 8, 10:30am
$10 (inclusive of ticketing fees)
 Grade 5

A lighthearted holiday musical based 
on the popular children's books, the 
Tailor of Gloucester finally gains
an opportunity to use his talents 
and sew a coat for the mayor, just 
in time for his Christmas wedding. 
The task meets with many twists 
and turns, sparked by the 
mischievous cat, Simpkins and
 his friends, the mice.


RAINBOW FISH
Thursday / January 22, 10:30am
$10 (inclusive of ticketing fees)
 Grade 2

ArtsPower’s delightful and heart-warming 
musical is based on the popular children’s 
book by author Marcus Pfister. Rainbow 
Fish learns the value of true friendship
 through sharing.


SWAZZLE'S 
DREAM CARVER
Tuesday / January 27, 10:30am
$10 (inclusive of ticketing fees)
K – Grade 6

Taught by his father to carve small 
wooden toys in a traditional way, 
Mateo instead dreams of bright, 
colorful animals that dance and sing. 
This bilingual musical transports the 
audience to a vibrant Mexican village 
and the life of Mateo and his family.


MATHEMAGIC 
w/ BRADLEY FIELDS
Tuesday / February 24, 10:30am
$10 (inclusive of ticketing fees)
K – Grade 8

Internationally renown magician 
Bradley Fields turns youth on to 
the history, power and beauty 
of the language of math. Featuring 
music, costumes, comedy, illusions 
and mathematical concepts, this 
theatrical show challenges, provokes 
and elicits critical thinking.


GOLDEN DRAGON 
ACROBATS 
Tuesday / March 31, 10:30am
$10 (inclusive of ticketing fees)
All Ages

From the region of Hebei, China the 
critically acclaimed Golden Dragon 
Acrobats bring their amazing skills 
to the main stage. The thrill escalates 
as these human obstacles, with their 
extraordinary abilities and breath-
taking maneuvers, keep the audience 
on the edge of their seats.


TAKIN' IT TO 
THE STREETS 
Thursday / May 7, 10:30am
$10 (inclusive of ticketing fees)
All Ages

The high-flying moves by these 
energetic performers demonstrate 
the distinctive and varied styles
 of dance as seen through this 
multi-component form of hip 
hop. Experience the evolution 
of dance from 17th century to 
today. A great connection 
to physical education!

As a longtime Space Coast resident and a passionate supporter of culture, kids and community, I attend various year 'round King Center productions  including many of the Theatre for Youth productions. And I enthusiastically endorse this fantastic program 100%.
